All too fast?

When nature changes, it’s important we adapt and flow with the earth. What is true? It may have all happened too fast. Summer is over and in some places it seems like it's still going… Here in British Columbia, our weather this week has been summertime balmy, with a hint of fall in the night air.

Autumn’s changing nature securely enters our minds and our lungs, and the trees start letting go of their leaves. We can learn a lot from trees, they know how to allow, they dont have technology hijacking their senses at every turn.

With all of the remarkable technology we have today, and with each updated software, it gets faster and more capable. The problem is we somehow expect our humaness to keep up. Our bodies and minds are wonderous things, they were never made to keep up, but we all act as if they should. Taking the time to appreciate how incredible we all are, treating ourselves with kindness and compassion each and every day is a small but huge step in protecting our mental health.

Here's a few simple tips to treat yourself more kindly starting now …

Take a few moments each day to tune into your breath … before you get out of bed, reach for your phone or speak… try this simple and short meditation ….

Try a sensory meditation. Engage your senses — Sense of taste and, specifically, the sweet natural tastes of seasonal fruits and veggies. Use your sense of smell and smell the changes in the air outside, the leaves on the trees. Your sense of hearing, cover or block your ears, listen to your heart beat, your breath moving in and out. Sense of touch, feel the cool air on your skin, the soft blanket in your hands, the water on your feet in the bath or shower. Sense of sight, let your eyes take in the softness of the last hint of light of the day as the sun sinks below.

Lessen the amount of information you take in, limit your exposure to news and social media. Refining what nourishes and supports beauty and connection to life, tune into what feels better, when you feel better you make better choices for you and those around you.

Walk in nature as much as possiblem strengthen the earth element within you and may this centre of stability nourish and flourish as the earth itself does when allowed and supported to thrive.
